We met up with Jen and Gustavo on a very sunny Saturday at the Getty Center. We had a good time wandering around the Getty. They had never been there before so they brought family and made it into a family outing. Here are a few favorites:
I love the rebar flower sculptures in the garden area of the Getty.
Gustavo can twirl Jen like it's nobody's business.
Jen is one of those fortunate people who is able to smile with her eyes. I am properly envious. :)
This shot was taken right before I realized it was a sculpture, and there was a (very small) "do not touch" sign on the building wall next to it. Oops.
Everytime I turn around to look for them, they are holding hands. It's very cute, so I couldn't resist snapping a shot when they were walking away.
It's surprising how much you can read from a photograph that only captures a quarter of your body. Plus I couldn't resist taking a picture of Jen's shoes.
I can't wait to shoot their wedding. I can't believe it's only two weeks away!

I've been off the internet grid for a few days because my computer was on the fritz. I'm ashamed to admit this, but it's such a relief being back. It also reminds me of my social dependence on the internet. We're so used to being networked in all these different ways on the web that more often than not we overlook the tangible, (dare I say it) real connections face-to-face. I am far more likely to shoot off an email than pick up the phone, which probably isn't the healthiest way to go about everything. Lesson learned. Can I have my computer back now? :) Just kidding. Sort of. Regardless, it was a real relief to see friends and family all weekend, therapy to my isolation bubble during the week. This weekend was a veritable eating bonanza, I feel like I need to work off at least a week's worth of food crammed into two days. I ended up photographing Jen and her fiance at the Getty, and even managed to convince my buddy Ricky to hold a few poses of his own.
"Nope, I can do better," was his response to the above picture. And then he rocked it out with this:
Awesome jumps, Ricky.

My friend was uploading pictures on facebook last night, and it really made me miss her dog. Living in an apartment makes keeping one tough, so I'm really grateful that I've got a lot of friends with plenty of cute dogs. And sadly, even they can't quite escape my camera. I do try to keep it down though, because they're not totally understanding when you stop petting them to snap a picture. :P This is when Didi was small.
Now he's big.
And a thief. This is a picture of him when he stole a fruit I really wanted. It also gives me flashbacks to when he jumped me at a BBQ for my meat. He's lucky he's cute. :(

The Nayfack family is very mellow, and little baby Isaac is no exception.
For a three month old baby, he really really knows how to work the camera.
This was a really funny shot.
His name is printed in really light letters at the bottom of his quilt. Very cute.
It's good to be Isaac.
I think in retrospect, the furrowed brow below might've been an indicator that he was getting fed up with the photo shoot.
The meltdown. Despite being told by Michelle that she wanted to chronicle this aspect of Isaac as well, I still felt kind of like a villain snapping shots of Isaac in his moment of weakness.
It was a bit hard snapping a shot of Isaac in a moving car, but this pout was too cute (and I was obviously not driving).

I had the bright idea that it would be awesome to have Isaac sitting on the wall with the house number below it. This is what he thought of it:
But at the end of the day it was ok, because the big black plastic thing was no longer pointed at him and he got to go back to his favorite spot.

Karen and Bobby are expecting! =) Romping around the farm with a backstage pass was quite fun.
One spot for Bobby, one spot for Karen, and one spot for belly.
They <3 baby.
It's going to be very exciting when this little one makes his/her debut.
